Pops is a tough s.o.b.

I know the last couple of blogs have been kinda mushy. Sorry. But here comes another...

This year has been an interesting one for my parents. Some of you may remember the 6th or 7th hip replacement surgery I posted about for my mom. Hell it could be more, I just threw out a number. Well she has a drill bit still in there for life. So that was awesome. Then my pops wised up and got some check ups done just because he should. Well, he found out he was diabetic, about ready for a heart attack and had prostate cancer. He has made great strides to help out the diabetic stuff. He had the heart surgery and today he had the prostate surgery. The man is tough s.o.b. I couldn't make it up to the hospital for the surgery due to father duties, but I sat here and just thought about him. I thought about all the things he has done for me. He truly is a great man. Granted he has many faults. We all do. He is basically me, but older (and not as hot) from a joking humor standpoint. But he is one of the smartest guys I know. Just loads and loads of information. I think he buys his underwear at Kmart basically.

Growing up he was always there to help me succeed in baseball. Lessons upon lessons. Watching plenty of baseball games on TV. One thing I will never forget, is he sold his 84 Ford Bronco that he really really loved so I could attend a baseball camp the day after Christmas down in Mesa AZ. Truly great experience with nothing but MLB coaches. He never missed a game growing up. When I played ball, I was pretty locked in at the plate. Nothing would phase me and I couldn't hear anything. Except for one voice. I could hear my Dads. I could always here my Dad helping while I am alone at the plate.

He is one of my best friends. I am so proud of him for the changes he has made in his life. I am so grateful for all he has done for me and what he is doing for me now. I am proud to be his son. I am doing everything I can to make sure he knows that.

Oh and his sense of humor..... Out of surgery and headed to his room, he wakes up just enough to look at my Mom and say "No sex for you!" Love that guy!!! What a dick.
